On 27 March 2014 with support of the business community - local industrialists and trading companies - members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), - National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes (NOTB) was established.
On May 2015 TNOBC became the full member of the international organization GS1. GS1 headquarter is in Brussels and currently 119 national organizations from over the world are members of GS1. After becoming a full member of GS1 NOTB had been entitled to use the brand “GS1 Turkmenistan”. Since then “GS1 Turkmenistan” has assigned to Turkmen producers barcodes beginning with the national prefix (code) “483”.
Being the sole authorized representative of the international organization GS1 in Turkmenistan, the national organization “GS1 Turkmenistan” aims to further widely introduce and apply barcodes and system of automatic identification in the country that allows its users to achieve greater efficiency of their companies and of its operational interaction with international trading partners. Similar measures certainly will increase competitiveness of our members at domestic and global markets.
