Identification keys

The GS1 International System provides the world with a unique and unambiguous identification system that utilizes unique, fixed standard form GS1 Identification Keys.

Businesses can use GS1 Identity Keys to select efficient options for accessing product information in their supply chain and for providing this information to their trading partners.

GS1 Identity Keys allow organizations to assign standard identifiers to products, documents, physical locations, and more.

Given that GS1 Identity Keys are globally unique, they can be shared between organizations, increasing visibility and supply chain transparency for trading partners.

To create GS1 Identity Keys, your organization must become a member of GS1 Turkmenistan and receive a Global Enterprise Prefix in the GS1 system. This will be the basis for the formation of your identification keys.

You can use all of these keys to identify all participants in the supply chain, from the producer to the end consumer, as in the typical supply chain below.

There are 12 GS1 identification keys to link physical events and related information as shown in the table below.
