GS1 Turkmenistan history

2014 – “National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes” (NOTB) WAS ESTABLISHED

  • On 27 March 2014 with support of the business community - local industrialists and trading companies - members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), - National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes (NOTB) was established.

2014 – ALLOCATION OF THE FIRST PREFIXES “950”

  • “National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes” provided consultative and administrative services to its members on obtaining prefixes allocated by the global office GS1.

2015 – JOINING GLOBAL GS1

  • As a result of unanimous vote of GS1 General Assembly on 20 May 2015 in Sydney (Australia), “National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes” became the full member of the international organization GS1.

2015 - GS1 ALLOCATED TO TURKMENISTAN THE PREFIX “483”

  • After joining, global GS1 allocated to “National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes” the prefix “483”.

2015 – SECURED BRAND “GS1 TURKMENISTAN”

  • Global GS1 entitled and delegated relevant authorities to “National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes” for using the brand “GS1 Turkmenistan”.

2015 – ALLOCATED THE FIRST NATIONAL PREFIX

  • GS1 Turkmenistan allocates the first national prefix to the largest poultry farm – individual enterprise “Gush toplymy”.

2016 – TECHNICAL COMMITTEE TK TM 08 “AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION AND DATA COLLECTION” was created

  • The Technical Committee for Standardization TC TM 08 “Automatic Identification and Data Collection” was created by order of the Main State Service “Turkmenstandartlary” No. 1/117 dated June 17, 2016 on the basis of the Law of Turkmenistan “On Standardization”.

2016 – THE FIRST NATIONAL ISO STANDARDS WERE APPROVED AND ENTERED INTO EFFECT

  • TDS-ISO/IEC 15416:2000(E) and TDS-ISO/IEC 15420:2009(E), required for the operation of a barcode verification laboratory.

2017 – THE FIRST BARCODE VERIFICATION LABORATORY CREATED IN TURKMENISTAN

  • On April 10, 2017, on the basis of the enterprise “Chyzykly belgi hyzmatlary” under the public organization GS1 Turkmenistan, a verification laboratory was created that tests bar codes for all indicators of print quality for compliance with international standards ISO/IEC 15416.
